Personality: There are two things that Zack is driven by more than anything else: honor and his dream of being a hero. The former comes, very seriously, from his mentor Angeal. Honor matters a lot to Zack, and for him that boils down to protecting people who can’t protect themselves, always keeping his word, and sticking to a specific code of ethics. He doesn’t want to hurt people who are innocent, and he will actually forego the specifics of a mission if there are innocents in harm’s way. Honor definitely continues on into the idea that being loyal to one’s friends are of upmost importance, even when it goes against orders.

The dream of being a hero is an interesting one with Zack. He doesn’t want to be a hero because he wants his name to be big like Sephiroth has. It’s not even for the recognition, though he wants that too. No, Zack wants to be a hero because he can protect people. That’s part of what drives him to wanting to be a SOLDIER First Class as well. Being stronger and better, means a lot to him, because he can change the world. He genuinely believes ShinRa’s propaganda that the war with Wutai was unprompted and that bringing Mako Reactors to the nation would bring prosperity, health and growth to the island nation.

Of course part of that boils down to the excited, positive energy that Zack tends to exude. He’s always bursting with energy, to the point where his mentor was known to describe him as a puppy. There’s often a playful air around Zack when he’s not on a mission, grinning and making light jokes and even flirting with those around him. His friendly disposition even makes it common for him to start connecting with people that others might not, such as the more socially insular Turks. He’s also known to give lower level SOLDIERs pep talks and offering to help teach them some so they can become better at what they do.

When it comes down to it, though, Zack is capable of seriousness and even he gets angry enough to lash out at other people. Thinking that Sephiroth is going to kill not only Sephiroth’s best friends, but Zack’s mentor, he actually shouts at the head of their department and Sephiroth. Betrayed by Angeal and faced by his mentor, he loses all the cheer and lightness of their interaction, instead fully hostile at first. He’s even disdainful of Sephiroth right after Zack achieves his promotion to first, a moment when he should be celebrating, because Sephiroth is pushing a mission off on him instead of taking it himself.

Ultimately, though, Zack does his best to stay positive. Even after years of being experimented upon and tortured by Hojo, and carrying a catatonic Cloud across the world, he has a whole positive outlook. He tells Cloud about his dreams of going back to Midgar to Aerith and becoming a mercenary. Even with everything taken from him, all he wants to do is return to the happiness that life can be, both for himself and his friend. Hope definitely keeps him going.

Powers/skills: As a SOLDIER operative, Zack has undergone chemical treatments and genetic enhancements to make him a better combatant. These treatments result in enhanced strength, speed, and stamina, allowing him to be a better fighter. As an example, he can handle the seriously heavy Buster Sword without issue and even shows flourishes and swings it around one-handed because he’s just a show-off. As an example of speed and precision, Zack actively cuts multiple RPG rounds in half when they are launched at him. For strength, he showcases jumping off of the room of a train a good fifteen feet in the air to twist through a gap in an overhang so he doesn’t get hurt by it, and first class SOLDIERS are seen cutting through concrete and steel through force of blows.

In addition these treatments come with an insane degree of pain tolerance and innate enhanced healing rates, to the point where it takes Zack being shot at multiple times by a large number of infantry to actually kill him. As part of this process his eyes also have an obvious blue glow to them.

Zack is also highly trained, has been with the company for several years and legitimately gained the First Class status. He’s a high level combatant seen doing highly acrobatic moves in combat and taking down massive monsters, machines, and other highly trained operatives. His skill as a swordsman should not be discounted.

+ the armiger: the engine blade sword and fishing rod are ok to keep if they are brought in via armiger, but the royal arms will not be brought (but may be bought as 1 large item each via ac rewards). noct can keep up to 12 items in the armiger at one time, and any time he tries to pull anything else out, or pull anything for any other character, he'll only pull out tribbles, empty energy drink cans, glow-in-the-dark jelly bracelets, and similarly useless things. (if you do have him pull out tribbles, please let the mods know, because that will lead into a fun miniplot.)

+ elemental and healing magic will only work at 50% (for now).

Personality:

When Charles Xavier was nine years old, he started hearing voices in his head. For a while he thought he was going mad until he realized that he was hearing other people’s voices. It took Raven breaking into his house for him to realize that there were others like him, and he wasn’t alone out there. And so he devoted his life to learning more about genetics and reaching out to other mutants.

Charles Xavier is gifted, smart and charming. Being highly empathic, he knows how to raise people’s hopes and make them believe in themselves. With an innate need for peace and equality, Charles is highly determined to stick to his guns and change the world’s views of mutants. On occasion, his privilege shows and he can often be blindsided by people’s opposing views and flat out ignore them when they’re convenient. Arrogant and naive, Charles wasn’t prepared for the clash between himself and Magneto, as well as the divide between him and his sister Raven. By the end of the first movie, he was alone and paralyzed. A natural born leader and teacher, he builds up people’s confidence, but on occasion, his flagrant use of his powers are seen as an invasion of privacy, a lesson he only learns to accept much later.

Ten years later, Charles Xavier is a broken man. Unable to cope with the constant loss, he traded his powers for the ability to walk and sleep without hearing everyone’s voices in his head. Sarcastic, cynical and morbid, Charles has given up on his future and everyone else’s futures and he has disavowed Erik and Raven. It takes Logan to rouse him back into action. While his feelings of anger and bitterness are strong, Charles still deeply cares about people, including the people who have hurt him and tries to change his ways in order to help them. He finally lets go of his overbearing attitude to order Raven around and finally accepts her for who she is, believing she can make the right choices. Now, somewhat humble but no less determined and strong, Charles is ready to shoulder other people’s pain and help them through their difficult times. But if he lapses into cynicism and anger, well, it’s a work in progress.

Another ten years passes and Charles has his school. He has his students, his support. All he wants is his corner of the world protected and to continue to foster his dream. Even if at times, that blinds him to the rest. He does not see the bigger picture as clearly as he would like, preferring to have his own corner that is safe and secure. He’s not yet at the point where he’s a leader, choosing to be a teacher and safeguard a small utopia for mutants everywhere. At times, he still feels the need to meddle and assume he is the authority on every subject, but after his experiences with his sister, Charles has also learned how important the power of a choice is. However, his hubris has him meddling once more as he tries to play nice with human governments and having his students assist them, often putting them in danger. It is not a path he enjoys or celebrates, but Charles remains wary of humanity, fearing that “one bad day” would be all it takes to ignite a war — and he’s not wrong. When Jean absorbs the Phoenix, her powers spiral out of control and cause the government to lash out. It only gets worse when Jean realizes the dampers Charles put in place when she was young to help her control her powers, seeing it as manipulation. While Charles comes to terms with his pride and apologizes, both Jean and Mystique are gone and he effectively retires from the school. Having given up his path, Charles is on a new one. One of self-discovery and contrition.
